Oswego Budget Hearing Set for Tuesday

Prior to the hearing, the committee of the whole will discuss proposed changes to the draft budget.

Before the village votes on next year's budget, residents will get the chance to sound off during a public hearing, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill.

Following the hearing, trustees will vote on the proposed $29.3 budget, which can be viewed on the village website.

Anyone who wants to present testimony at the hearing should contact village clerk Tina Touchette at 630-554-3618.

Prior to the hearing, the village's committee of the whole is slated to meet at 6 p.m. to discuss some proposed changes to the budget. Trustee Terry Michels has asked fellow board members to consider several reductions, including eliminating the $100,000 line item for Town Center engineering, and transferring $40,000 to the general fund and $60,000 to the water/sewer fund.

Michels is also proposing slashing emerald ash borer tree replacement expenditures by $50,000 and eliminating a $50,000 financial software consultant expense.

The committee will also address a request to increase a contribution to the Osewgo Senior Center from $35,000 to $38,500.
