Oswego Considering Day Care In Gerry Centennial Plaza

by Erin Gallagher

The Oswego Village Board is deciding the best use for the vacant lot within Gerry Centennial Plaza. Although village staff recommends declining a request to put a day care there, trustees are considering it.

According to an article in the Beacon News, the 1.2-acre lot on the east side of Douglas Road south of Route 34 would require a special use permit. It is located inside a commercial center.

The center owner, Ben Scharpf, is asking the village to allow him to build a 10,600 square foot building and playground.

The village's Committee of the Whole is scheduled to discuss the proposal at its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
