State Road Construction Approved for This Year

Projects include work in Oswego, Plano and Yorkville.

State Rep. Tom Cross (R-Oswego) and Rep. Kay Hatcher (R-Yorkville) announced Friday that millions of dollars in road construction projects in Kendall and Kane counties have been approved for this year.

“There are several projects scheduled to move forward in the 84th district including in Kendall and Kane counties that will lead to job creation and less congestion in our area in the coming year,” Cross said.

Hatcher said the projects are much needed in the area.

“Kendall is one of the fastest growing counties in the country and our roads absolutely must keep pace with that growth,” Hatcher said.  “I’m very pleased to have been able to work with Representative Cross to move several key improvement projects forward.” 

The projects include:

  •  On  Route 30, there will be additional lanes added, bridge replacement, lighting, noise barriers, utility adjustment and  construction engineering   from Briarcliff Road to Route 34.
  • On Route 34, there will be additional lanes added, reconstruction of curb and gutter, storm sewer, bridge widening and retaining wall west of A Big Rock Creek in Plano to west of Eldamain Road.  There will also be land acquisition, utility adjustment and construction engineering in that area.
  • Also on Route 34, there will be resurfacing west of Eldamain Road in Plano to West of IL 47 in Yorkville.
  • On Route 47 (Bridge Street), there will be additional lanes added, bridge joint and deck repair, land acquisition, utility adjustment, railroad crossing improvement, and construction engineering.
  • Also on Route 47, there will be planning, environmental study and approval stage, preparation of design plans between Route 71 to Caton Farm Road.
  • On Route 71, the state will acquire land from Orchard Road to Route 34 in Oswego.
