Are You Ready to Rock? OEHS Prepping for Battle of the Bands

Students at Oswego East share their musical talent with the Community at the second annual Battle of the Bands Saturday night

High school students are constantly searching for a way to express themselves whether it is through a paint brush, body movement, or an instrument.

at many musically talented teenagers will come together with their bands and perform on stage for their peers, parents and members of the community. The show is presented by Oswego East Senior Celebration 2011 and will include 10 bands from around the area.

“I have played a couple shows in the past, but I have never gotten the chance to showcase my drumming to Oswego East directly. For that reason, I could not possibly consider passing up Battle of the Bands,” senior Zack Kochetta said.

Having the courage to go out on stage and perform in front of a crowd is difficult for some, but those with the passion for music just play for the love of their talent and enjoyment.

“Music is a way to just fall back from everyday problems and it just has a way to move me,”senior Kyle Bryson said.

Music is all around with its many styles, artists, lyrics and rhythms. It gives everyone something to relate to and enjoy together.

“I think people should go to Battle of the Bands because it’ll be a very worthwhile experience. It will allow people to listen to some good music and possibly be exposed to some new styles that may spark their interest,” Kochetta said.

Coming together for a night of music at the high school is not only an exciting time for the audience, but the bands as well.

“I joined a band to play with friends and it gets me really excitedjust listening to hardcore music,” senior Coleton Mastick said.

Students from Metea Valley, Neuqua Valley, Plainfield,Winfield, and West Aurora high school will also be on stage. 

Tickets prices are: students $8 ($10 at door); Adults: $10 ($12 at door.) The are being sold at , Oswego East Student Services office, .
