Christine Nelson Leaving Churchill Elementary for District 308 Position

School's first principal will now be director of student services.

After six years as principal of , Christine Nelson is leaving the post to take over as the District 308 director of student services.

She takes the place of Marti Neahring, who is leaving for West Aurora School District 129 to serve as director of discipline, residency and registration beginning next school year.

“Christine is a highly motivated, team player whose efforts have helped establish and maintain a positive learning environment at Churchill Elementary,” said Associate Superintendent Todd Colvin. “Her passionate commitment to the growth of students and staff and her many educational experiences make her an excellent candidate for the district director of student services.”

Nelson previously worked as both an assistant principal and classroom teacher in Chicago Public Schools.

Taking Nelson’s place as interim principal at Churchill is current assistant principal Tammie Harmon, also effective July 1.

School officials said Harmon’s “diverse talents and student first philosophy make her a great fit as the principal at Churchill Elementary School.”
