Churchill Elementary Graduates Invited to Apply for Scholarship

Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to students who are continuing their education.

A scholarship honoring a former kindergarten teacher is open to Oswego East and Oswego high school seniors who graduated from Churchill Elementary. This is the second year of the Churchill Elementary Home and School Association’s Kerry Anne Engdahl Scholarship program.

Two $250 scholarships will be issued to students for continuing education. The scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance, extracurricular achievements, and an essay. The deadline for submission of the application and essay is April 11, 2014. Applications should be mailed to Churchill Elementary, Attn: Kim Von Kaenel, 520 Secretariat Lane, Oswego, IL 60543.

The scholarship honors Engdahl, a former kindergarten teacher diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2011. She passed away in the summer of 2013, and lived by the motto: Always laugh and smile. The money for the scholarships is raised through Churchill’s Home and School Association’s Mustang Gram program.
