Former School Board President Running for County Board

Lynn Cullick filed nominating petitions Monday for a spot on the March 20 primary ballot.

Lynn Cullick's never wanted to serve more than two terms on the board.

With that in mind, she began her candidacy for the Kendall County Board this week with the filing of petitions for a place on the ballot in the Republican primary set for March 20. Cullick will be running for a spot in the general election set for next November in County Board District 2.

"I just made a decision that I needed to stop talking about it and do it," she said. "I had made a self-imposed term limit and two terms is enough on the school board."

Cullick's second term on the District 308 board will expire in April 2013. She served as board president until April, when Bill Walsh was voted into that spot. She was first elected in 2005.

All 10 members of the Kendall County Board are up for re-election in November, and so far 11 candidates have filed nomination petitions. Those candidates include Oswego residents Scott Gryder, Michael Becker and Evelyn Maxine Givens.

Currently, there are no members of the County Board that live within the village limits of Oswego, which is one of the reasons Cullick said she decided to run.

"I really feel like, Oswego being the largest taxing body in the county, we really need some representation from Oswego," she said.
