Oswego resident and current Indian Prairie School District teacher Jennifer McDermott was hired to replace Chris Puckett as the next assistant principal of Plank Junior High School starting in the 2014-15 school year.
McDermott said she is excited for the new opportunity to work in school administration for her hometown district, Community Unit School District 308.
“I’m really honored to be joining District 308,” McDermott said. “I’m looking forward to joining the dynamic administrators that are already in 308.”
McDermott, who was selected from a pool of 142 candidates, will leave her current position as an interventionist at Oliver Julian Kendall Elementary School in School District 204. Some of her responsibilities in this role included collaborating with administration to develop school improvement plans, overseeing and monitoring student progress, and reviewing student data.
She also simultaneously served as the building problem-solving coach, where she trained staff on the systems and structures of problem solving at the teacher intervention level.
McDermott has a master’s degree in education from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais. She also has a master’s in educational leadership from Aurora University.
She has endorsements as a K-12 reading specialist and a learning behavior specialist.
