Oswego 308 Asking Residents to Email Illinois State Board of Education

Oswego 308 has lost over $11 million in the last few years because they have not received full state funding.

The Illinois State Board of Education’s Finance and Audit Committee has been hosting public hearings around the state to find what education needs should be a priority.

They are calling on every state agency to make the case for its budget based on its ability to successfully deliver results and value to Illinoisans.

And Oswego 308 wants its community to be heard.

"We received only 89 percent of our GSA (general state aid) from the state this year," said 308 board president Bill Walsh. "We have lost over $11 million the last couple of years."

Walsh is asking residents and taxpayers to email the state board about the importance of receiving that full amount of funding.

"We have to supplement [the loss] with either cuts or going to taxpayers," said Walsh.

He said that emailing the ISBE was important and, "helps create an avenue for opportunity for relief for our taxpayers."

Those who wish to provide feedback can email the ISBE at ISBEFY15@isbe.net.
