Oswego 308 Board Approves Amended Budget

The 2013 fiscal year budget was reduced from a $2.6 million deficit to a surplus of just over $299,000.

The Oswego 308 board voted unanimously to approve the amended budget at the Monday night board meeting.

The budget was originally approved back in Sept. 2012 with a $2.6 million deficit, down from an original deficit of $7.5 million as of last summer.

The balancing of the budget was first announced in early May through a series of budget cuts, delayed purchasing and audits.

The amended budget was approved with a surplus amount of $299,789, said board president Bill Walsh.

“I know it’s not easy when we have to ask our buildings, teachers and staff to make further reductions, but it is appreciated and necessary,” said board member Brent Lightfoot before the vote.
