Oswego 308 Finance Director Resigns

Sharon Hassberger has accepted a position at School District 227.

After serving for just over a year, Oswego 308 Director of Finance Sharon Hassberger has resigned.

Hassberger left the Oswego 308 school district on November 11 and will begin work as Director of Finance at School District 227 in Matteson, Illinois this week.

At her new position Hassberger will be making a base salary of approximately $126,500 at District 227, according a release issued by Oswego 308.

Hassberger was hired to Oswego 308 in July 2012 to replace outgoing Angela Smith, who accepted a position in Plainfield District 202. She was hired in Oswego for a salary $83,000, which include 308's contribution to her Teachers Retirement System (TRS) pension.

In Oswego 308, Hassberger was responsible for the preparation of the district’s $140 million annual budget. She assisted in tax appeals and data preparation for negotiations, created financial reports for the Board of Education and managed the district’s $5.5 million school meal program.

Prior to joining District 308, she was the Business Manager at Big Hollow School District and Director of Business Services at Winfield School District.

“Sharon has done a great job for the district and we have been recognized nationally for our excellence in financial reporting while she was here,” said Dr. Paul O'Malley in a statement. “I want to thank and wish Sharon well in her future role.”
