Oswego 308 Schools Post "No Gun' Signs

The signs are a part of the Firearm Concealed Carry Act.

When students go back to school on Tuesday, you may notice a new sign at the front door.

On Jan. 5, firearm owners in Illinois were allowed to apply for a license for conceal carry. The Firearm Concealed Carry Act (430 ILCS 66) identifies 25 areas where concealed firearms are prohibited, including schools.

The law requires schools to post a sign, provided by the Illinois State Police, that states that carrying firearms into the building is prohibited.

Oswego 308 has posted the signs to all school entrances used by the public.
