Oswego School Board Approves New Math Curriculum

The Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved the plan for a new mathematics curriculum set to begin next fall.

The materials include “My Math” by McGraw-Hill for elementary students and “Glencoe” by McGraw-Hill for both junior and senior high students.

“The mathematics curriculum review is the first series within a five-year board-approved curriculum review cycle,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Wendt said. “The effort to design a new mathematics curriculum by a team of district teachers and administrators is important work. I applaud the group’s efforts and dedicated work. I am excited to see new mathematics programming, teaching strategies, materials and opportunities for students beginning next fall.”

The new teaching materials were recommended to help School District 308 meet Common Core State Standards, provide students with the necessary skills to compete at the national and international levels, and improve overall mathematics achievement.
