Oswego Teen Wins Student App Contest
Jake Cirino was the first Congressional STEM academic competition.

Oswego High School student Jake Cirino won the first-ever Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Academic Competition.
Area judges selected Cirino from the computer and technology fields for his app, “Pollution Simulator.” A video demonstration of his app is available on YouTube.
“High school students in the 14th District have demonstrated immense talent in coding and computer science, and I was thrilled at the level of excellence in each submission,” U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren said. “I want to congratulate Jake for impressing our expert panel of judges with his app simulator, and I see a bright future ahead for him in a STEM career.”
The House app contest is open to high school students from the 14th Congressional District of Illinois and nationwide and is designed to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM education fields. A panel of local industry leaders judged the submitted apps.
