Snapshot: OEHS Cheer Squads Finish Strong at State

On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Oswego East High School Varsity cheer team competed at the ICCA State Championships in Springfield, IL.  To qualify, the team had to score 75% of the total available points (based on IHSA scoring) at any of the ICCA Regionals held in December-January.  Only 22 large varsity teams in the state qualified to compete at the State Championships. This was the first time a Varsity cheer team from OEHS went to state.  At the end of the day, the girls finished in fifth place, earning a trophy and team medals. 

Team members include: Jordan Anderson, Jamie Brewer, Katelyn Caragher, Kati Carlson (captain), Ashley Clayton, Jacquie Davis, Kailey Elfstrum (captain), Claudia Glasgow, Stephanie Heim, Megan Jaros, Briana Linkenheld, Kajuan Moore (captain), Haley Morgan, Angel Oakley, Emily Popp (captain), Tina Roszkowski, Noelle Sather, Nicole Snyder, Rachel Thoreson, Katie Wehrly, Emma Wiggins, Julie Wiggins, Lexi Zitella, and Alyssa Zukas.  They are coached by Jennifer Rudzinski.

On Sunday, the OEHS JV team concluded their competitive season by also competing at the ICCA State Championships.  To qualify, the team had to score 80% of the total available points (based on ICCA scoring) at any of the ICCA Regionals held in December-January. Only 20 small JV teams in the state qualified to compete at the State Championships, including OEHS.  This was the first time a small JV cheer team from OEHS went to state.  At the end of the day, the girls finished in eighth place, earning a team plaque.
