One Oswego East, Three Oswego High School Artists Receive National Recognition

One Oswego East High School and three Oswego High School students are headed for the Big Apple in the next couple of weeks to be honored nationally for their accomplishments in art.

Ryan O'Neill, an Oswego East junior, received a gold medal in digital photography for her piece titled "Jesus."

Thomas Mereness received a Gold Medal in Sculpture, and Silver Medals were presented to both Ashley Blocker (Drawing) and Renee Hrovat (Painting) for their recognition in the Scholastic Art and Writing Award competition.

The award winners will be part of a special ceremony at Carnegige Hall in new York City on Friday, May 31 with a live webcast at 5 p.m. Those interested in seeing the webcast can sign-up here

Winners artwork will also be displayed at 1515 Broadway, Times Square on Friday, May 31 with 30-second videos of the art playing every two minutes.
