Toia Jones to Become New Old Post Principal

The Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved Toia Jones on Tuesday to replace Jodi Ancel as the Old Post Elementary School Principal.

Jones, a Bolingbrook resident, is currently the assistant principal at MacArthur Middle School in Berkeley, Illinois, a position she has held since 2011.

Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Dr. John Sparlin said Jones will be an ideal fit for Old Post Elementary School.

“Toia brings a great mix of classroom and leadership experience to the district,” said Sparlin. “I am confident she will build on the past successes at Old Post Elementary by fostering collaboration among the staff and setting high expectations for students.”

Jones is also looking forward to her transition to School District 308, she said.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve Old Post Elementary students, staff and families,” Jones said. “I look forward to a wonderful school year in August.”

Jones is replacing Ancel, who is taking the position as the next Lakewood Creek Principal. Jones will begin her new role July 1.

Jones has three years of administrative experience and more than 18 years of education experience, working as an elementary school teacher and graduate course instructor. She has also worked as a dean of students.

She earned a master’s degree in teaching and learning from Saint Xavier University in Chicago as well as a bachelor’s in elementary education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Jones will begin her role with Old Post Elementary School making a Teacher Retirement System salary of $88,000 per year.
