When and how did your business get started?

June 2011. I was raised on consignment stores and I always envisioned myself owning one someday. I originally started with only online shopping. My store quickly became too big for my basement so I decided to open a storefront.

What is your business best known for?

Second Born Consignment is known for its quality gently used clothing, toys, and baby gear. We are also well know for having a HUGE selection of hair bows. We now offer Melissa & Doug toys, activity books, and art supplies and are quickly becoming the place for shop for these items.

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business?

Oswego is a growing community with many growing families. I saw a deficit in good quality second hand stores for children's and maternity clothing in the Oswego area and I knew I could fill that gap.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

We have one of the largest selections of maternity clothing (new or used) in the area. We carry all brands in all sizes. We also have a "Tot Spot" so parents can come shop and be comforted that their children are entertained as they do so.

Does your business offer a special deals card or program?

We have a frequent shopper program. For every $10 you spend pretax you get a stamp. Once you receive 10 stamps you receive $10 OFF your next purchase!
