Almost Time to Race Your Whiskers Off in Third Annual FraidyCat 5K

The 5K is limited to the first 1,000 entrants.

Fasten your claws and hold onto your kitty ears, it's going to be a scary run.

Edward Hospital and the Oswego Chamber of Commerce have once more teamed up for their third annual FraidyCat 5K through the heart of downtown Oswego. The flat, scenic CARA and USATF-IL-certified course will take you through Oswego neighborhoods.

The race begins promptly on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Oswego Senior Center, 61 Franklin St. For those participating in the Meow Mile, it will go off at 9 a.m.

The cost to register is $40 online for the Fraidy Cat 5K and $20 for the Meow Mile. Registration jumps to $50 on the day of the race, so be sure to register early. Go to the FraidyCat register page to sign-up. CARA runners will receive a discount. 

The top overall male and female finishers will receive a trophy and the top three male and female finishers in each age group will also receive a trophy.

This year, the 1st, 100th and 300th runner overall to cross the finish line will also win a pair of Saucony running shoes courtesy of Oswego Cyclery. 

Packet pick-up for pre-registered runners will be Friday, October 25, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 9 a.m. to noon at Edward Oswego (Orchard Rd & Route 34, Oswego); or on race day beginning at 7 a.m. If you register online, allow 24 hours before picking up your packet.

Registration is limited to the first 1,000 entrants.

The race will happen rain or shine, barring dangerous weather. Any cancellations will be made the day of the race and posted to the FraidyCat5K website and their Facebook page.
