Chicago Bears Football Camp Coming to Oswego

Elite Sports Performance to host it at end of July

Elite Sports Performance of Oswego will host a Chicago Bears Youth Football Camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 29 at Elite Sports Performance, 2050 Mitchell Drive.

Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps teach safe, noncontact football skills to kids from ages 6 to 14 years old. The cost of each camp is $389, which includes a T-shirt. There also is extended supervision available for up to one hour before and after the camp. The cost is $100.

“We are thrilled to be in Oswego with Elite Sports Performance” program director Tom Finks said. “Our goal is to make high-quality, non-contact camps available and in convenient locations.  Elite Sports Performance has provided a great youth camp atmosphere and we are grateful for the opportunity.”

Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps are led by professional educators with high school and/or college coaching experience.  Macey Brooks will direct the Oswego program with support from Chicago Bears alumni such as Allan Ellis, Kris Haines, Al Harris, Jim Morrissey and Revie Sorey.

Brooks is in his first year with the Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps and has 11 years of coaching experience. He was a wide receiver for James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, before being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1997.

He played four seasons in the NFL, two with the Chicago Bears.

During the 2000 season, Brooks played in all 16 games, catching 26 passes for 216 yards. During his career, he had 40 receptions for 376 yards.

The noncontact format provides an opportunity for both experienced players and newcomers to participate. Experienced flag or tackle football players sharpen their skills while others see the camps as a great way to cross train and build new athletic skills.
