League Teams Populated with District 308 Players

Oswego East's Johnson picks college.

Oswego and Oswego East high schools were well represented when the Southwest Prairie Conference released its girls soccer and softball teams.

Oswego’s Lisa Bajkowski, Cathy Tram and Cindi Chavez earned spots on the team, as did Anita Phetchanpheng and Carli Schlaker of Oswego East.

Bajkowski, who served as captain, led the Panthers with six assists and was named to the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association all-sectional team.

Tram, who scored a team-high 10 goals for the Panthers, will study education at Benedictine University in Lisle.

Sophomores Jessa Garcia of Oswego and Oswego East’s Morgan Ettinger, Brittany Warnecke and Briana Wright earned spots on the all-SPC softball team.

Brittany’s brother, Brad Warnecke, a 6-2, 210 freshman pitcher from Oswego East, went 4-1 with a 4.22 ERA for the baseball team at Aurora University. He posted 45 strikeouts and allowed 45 hits in 53.1 innings pitched for the Spartans this spring.

The opposition hit .224 against Warnecke, who was an all-Southwest Prairie Conference selection in 2010.

Oswego graduate Courtney Seffrood had three goals and five assists for the women’s soccer team at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Seffrood is a junior midfielder.

Stephanie Johnson, a graduate of Oswego, earned a grade-point average between 3.0 and 3.49 during her senior season with the women’s track and field team at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Oswego East’s Kelsey Johnson has signed a national letter of intent with William Penn College in Iowa. Johnson took 10th at the girls bowling state meet in February.
