Oswego, Oswego East Football Schedules Made Public

Crosstown Challenge Sept. 16 at OHS

The Illinois High School Association released football schedules for the entire state earlier this week.

Oswego and Oswego East are members of the Southwest Prairie Conference and will play two non-conference games before starting
league play in week three.

Football practice across the state begins Wednesday, Aug. 10. Opening night is Friday, Aug. 26. Football playoffs begin Friday, Oct. 28.

The sixth annual Crosstown Challenge between the two schools will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at OHS.

Class 7A quarterfinalist Minooka, Plainfield North and Plainfield South each won a share of the SPC championship a year ago. All three begin SPC play with road contests.

Oswego (4-5) welcomes Class 5A quarterfinalist Marian Catholic of Woodstock (8-4) in the season opener for both schools. In week two, it travels north on Route 34 to face Class 8A qualifier Waubonsie Valley (8-3) in Aurora.

The Panthers’ league debut will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at Romeoville.

Some early predictions list Oswego as a threat to win the SPC and qualify for the state playoffs. Among the top returners are incoming seniors, quarterback Ryan West, running back Josh Mapolo and receiver Parker Meek. Junior-to-be Jack Kwiatkowski is also a receiver.

West, who led the team in rush attempts, threw for 2,471 yards and 24 touchdowns in nine games as a junior last year. Kwiatkowski led the team in receptions (55) and touchdowns (seven).

Oswego East (3-6) hosts Rich South (5-4) then travels to Oak Lawn (2-7) in week two.

The Wolves begin SPC play at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 be hosting Plainfield South.

Returning senior quarterback Dakoda Skenendore gives the Wolves high hopes for a breakout season and their first playoff berth.

Skenendore threw for 1,339 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran for five more scores.

Incoming senior running back Jake Aceret ran for 331 yards and four touchdowns.

The Wolves top returning receiver is senior-to-be Ryan Kossakowski, who had 20 catches for 268 yards and two touchdowns.
