Runners from OHS and OEHS Headed to Cross Country State Finals

Michelle Borycki from OEHS and Peter Johnsrud from OHS will run in the cross country state final this Saturday.

Last weekend two runners, one each from Oswego East and Oswego, qualified for the cross country state tournament.

The state final will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

Oswego East senior Michelle Borycki placed 23rd individually at the IHSA sectional on Nov. 2, qualifying her for state.

Borycki posted a season best time of 18:25 and is only the second Oswego East athlete to qualify for the IHSA State Meet in the school's history.

The East girls cross country team placed 7th, but only the top 5 teams could advance.

For Oswego High School, junior Peter Johnsrud advanced to the state final after his showing on Saturday.

He placed 7th at the sectional hosted by Hinsdale Central with a time of
14:54.01.

Earlier this year Johnsrud placed second in the Joliet Steelmen Invitational and second in the Southwest Prairie Conference Meet

Best of luck to both runners!
