Thompson Tigers Girls Soccer Team Wins Conference Tournament
The Thompson Tigers earned their victory with a final score 7-0 over the Plank Pirates.
In a rematch of last year’s championship game, the Thompson Tigers faced off against the Plank Pirates to win the conference tournament.
The Tigers took charge in the opening minutes of the first half with a goal by Kacie Moran who was assisted by Lauren Gotchie and Briana Avalos. Moran tallied another goal a few minutes later. As time ran out in the first half the Tigers added another goal by Morgan Brown off a corner kick by Brianna Welch. Excellent defensive play by Maggie Pagone, Holly Gotchie, Morgan Brown, Rachel Mittlestaedt, Anna Bruzdzinski, Erin Cronin .
The Tigers controlled the game in the second half with excellent midfield play by Brianna Welch, Cori Welch, Jenny Nunez, Grace Pagone, Rachel Mittlestaedt and Lauren Gotchie. Alex Schultz, Brainna Avalos and Kacie Moran continued to put pressure on the Plank goalie with their aggressive play at Forward.
The Tigers added goals by Kacie Moran, Cori Welch, Maggie Pagone, and Briana Avalos and Megan Rasmussen stopped all of Plank’s shots to earn a 7-0 victory. The Tigers are coached by John Donovan. They have gone undefeated the past 2 years.
This group of girls is amazing to watch and each one of them demonstrates good character at all times. Congratulations Tigers!
