Kifowit Offers Free Screenings on Diabetes Awareness Day

AURORA, Ill. – In recognition of Diabetes Awareness Day, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, is encouraging local residents to participate in a free diabetes screening she is hosting with Rush Copley Medical Center on Thursday, November 14 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Holiday Inn Express, located at 2005 Wiesbrook Dr. in Oswego.

“As state representative, I am committed to ensuring that area families are aware of the risks and treatment options available to people affected by diabetes,” Kifowit said. “Thank you to medical professionals of Rush Copley for joining me for this free screening that will help people make healthy decisions and hopefully reduce the effects of diabetes in the future.”

Hospital staff from Rush Copley will be on hand to provide free blood glucose screenings, answer attendees’ questions, and provide referrals for follow up care, if necessary. According to the American Diabetes Association, over twenty-five million Americans suffer from diabetes. However, people can stay healthier longer and reduce their risk of diabetes by increasing physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, and changing their diets.
