Kifowit to Host Education Roundtable Discussion With Illinois Superintendent of Education

To help parents and residents learn more about developments in Illinois education, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, is hosting a roundtable discussion with Illinois Superintendent of Education Dr. Christopher Koch on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Eola branch of the Aurora Public Library, located at 555 S. Eola Road from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.    

“As a parent of two, I understand how important a good education is to building a solid foundation for children to succeed,” Kifowit said. “I encourage parents and other interested community members to attend this discussion to learn more about the state’s education standards and ways to prepare children to meet these benchmarks.”

The roundtable will feature Dr. Christopher Koch, who has been the Illinois Superintendent of Education since 2006, and will include discussion about changes in Illinois education and the recently implemented common core standards. Local parents, teachers, families, school administrators, and residents are encouraged to attend to have their questions answered directly by an authority of Illinois’ educational system.

“Since taking office, I have worked to bring experts from different fields directly to our community to help keep residents informed about the latest issues in our state,” Kifowit said. “I look forward to giving residents the opportunity to benefit from Dr. Koch and his years of expertise.”
