Small Business Saturday- It Pays to Shop Local

A blog about shopping local and Small Business Saturday.

Spring has sprung and so has Small Business Saturday, so head on down to Main Street this Saturday. Support your local independent businesses and you could win a $100 shopping spree.

Started by American Express over two years ago, Small Business Saturday’s goal is to bring awareness to the independent businesses that make our communities so great. Small businesses are run by your neighbors and friends who reinvest the money you spend at their store back into the community which helps the local economy. An added benefit of shopping small local businesses is that they offer that one of a kind personal touch and sometimes include free gift wrapping, hemming or special rewards programs.

What’s in it for you, besides supporting your local community? How about a chance to win a $100 shopping spree at some of your favorite stores on Main Street? Stop in at one of the participating businesses on Main Street on April 21st
and enter for your chance to win $100 in Downtown Dollars. Three winners will be drawn and you can use the Downtown Dollars just like cash at the participating businesses.

Make sure you check out the Oswego-Downtown FaceBook Page for participating businesses and more details! Oswego is lucky to have small independent businesses that make Oswego a unique place to dine and shop, so let’s support them. After all, they support our great community and you, so think spring and think local and pledge to support local businesses on April 21 because if we all shop small, it will be huge.
