The Oswego Literary Festival is this Saturday!

On October 6th, The Village of Oswego Cultural Arts Commission and the Oswego Public Library District will host their first ever Literary Festival.

There will be 20 authors on hand selling and signing their books and several speakers are lined up to give presentations on topics such as "Getting Published in the 21st Century" and "Marketing for the Indie Author, How to Get the Word Out".

The Friends of the Library will also hold a used book sale and everyone in attendance will have a chance to enter a raffle to win featured authors books, which include Warm Light, Cool Shadows: The Life and Art of Ruth Van Sickle Ford by Nancy Smith Hopp, Sounds of Murder by Patricia Rockwell, Too Dead to Dance (Jennifer Penny Mystery) by Diane Morlan and  a children’s book bag filled with goodies by Linda Brodine! This notable event will take place at Village Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The festival will also kick off National Scenic Byway Week. What is a scenic byway? By definition, a scenic byway is a public road having special scenic, historical or cultural qualities that have been recognized through legislation or some other official declaration.

Oswego is home to the great Lincoln Highway, one of the first American roadways! Maybe you’ve seen the mural celebrating the famed highway in downtown Oswego. It tells the story of the Boy Scouts placing highway markers along the route. The Lincoln Highway stretches across the country from New York City all the way to San Francisco and will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2013!

There will be a lot happening at the Literary Festival all day long, so come for a while or make it an all day affair! And make sure to check out the Cultural Arts
