CALL FOR LOCAL AND REGIONAL VISIUAL ARTISTS!

The Art of Oswego is looking for a few good artists! Painters, photographers, designers, etc. are invited to apply for The Art of Oswego 2013, Oswego’s annual outdoor art fair. The event is hosted by The Village of Oswego and the Cultural Arts Commission and will take place outdoors in Historic Downtown Oswego on Main Street on Sunday, August 18th, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Accepted artists will receive a 10x10 space to exhibit for the fee of $50.00. Submissions will be juried with prizes awarded in different categories. Applicants from a wide range of artistic practices are encouraged to apply, including long-standing as well as new and emerging artists. Demonstrations are encouraged and artists may offer their work for sale. No commission fees will be applied to any sales. Don't miss out on applying to this year’s The Art of Oswego. Applications are due by July 20th!

Artists are also invited to participate in “The Artist’s View: Windows of Our Community”; an art competition, exhibit, and fundraiser presented by the Village of Oswego’s Cultural Arts Commission! For a $20.00 entry fee, artists receive a repurposed window (through the Village Hall) as their “canvas” for the exhibit; window entries are due on or before July 15th. Selected windows will be on display around the downtown Oswego area as part of a community art exhibit from August 1st through September 20th. A first place cash prize of $1,000.00 and second and third place ($500.00 and $250.00) will be awarded prior to the public exhibition. On Sunday, September 22nd, entries will be available for sale in a silent auction, with the proceeds designated towards beautifying the Washington Street downtown foot bridge. Sponsorships for the art competition, exhibit, and bridge project are also available to local businesses and companies. For more information please call the Village of Oswego at (630) 554-3618 or visit the Cultural Arts Commission FaceBook page at https://www.facebook.com/OswegoILCulturalArts?ref=hl.
