Celebrate Small Business Saturday in Downtown Oswego!

Tis’ the season for holiday shopping! This year marks the 4th annual Small Business Saturday and I encourage you to celebrate the day by pledging to shop small. Small Business Saturday, held on November 30th, is a day to support independent business owners, help fuel the economy and invigorate communities across the country.

Why support Small Business Saturday? Because it just may be the most important shopping day of the year! Shopping local matters to our economy and our community. Small businesses are run by our neighbors and friends, and a majority of the dollars you spend at a local shop stay in your community. Plus, small local business offer more personalized service than the big chain retailers!

What’s in it for you? Shop at your favorite downtown stores on Small Business Saturday and enter for your chance to win $50 in "Downtown Dollars"! 10 Winners will be chosen and you can use the "Downtown Dollars" just like cash at any participating store! While you’re finding the perfect gift, you can refuel at downtown restaurants, including the Tap House Grill, Firehouse Pizza, the Oswego Family Restaurant, or the Village Grind, offering delicious coffee and treats, as well as a great selection of unique gift items.

This year, a special pancake breakfast benefiting Diane Mayse Blakeman, a family member of the downtown business community, will take place. Start your shopping day off right with pancakes, sausage, and more for $10.00 per person. Held at the American Legion from 7:00 am until 10:00 a.m., raffle tickets will be available for purchase and prizes include gift baskets, jewelry, artwork, a children’s bicycle, and more from local businesses.

Small Business Saturday is sponsored by American Express and they are offering a one-time $10 statement credit when you register an eligible American Express Card and make a purchase of $10 or more at a participating small business on November 30th.
