Garage Sale Fundraiser Being Held to Support Teacher

All proceeds from the garage sales will go towards Lakewood Creek first grade teacher Cheryl Pavelka.

The Lakewood Creek community is reaching out to help first grade teacher Chereyl Pavelka through a series of garage sales this weekend.

Tina Juillett, one of three organizers for the event, said Pavelka  is currently on leave to care for her husband, Sam, who is battling a second round of bone cancer. Sam, also a teacher, is also on leave.

Pavelka is also undergoing a high risk pregnancy with the baby due sometime in October. Juillet, whose daughter is in Pavelka’s class, said the baby is showing signs of kidney problems.

“We are donating all the proceeds for their medical expenses,” said Juillet. Dana Coventry, whose daughter was in Pavelka’s class last year, came up with the idea of the garage sale.

The garage sales will take place at 2432 Prairie Crossing Dr & 2425 Sir Barton Lane, Montgomery in the Blackberry Creek subdivision on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“So far we have over 30 generous families who have donated items to sell,” said Juliett. Anyone interested in donating items can contact Dana Coventry or Lisa McNanna at lwcefamily@gmail.com.

Due to the response they have received, Juliett said they will have hotdogs, a bake sale and lemonade available for sale. There will also be a raffle.

A donation website is also available for anyone that would like to help out the Pavelka family.

Cheryl Pavelka also has a blog keeping friends, family and well-wishers updated with her husband’s treatment and her pregnancy.
