Ghouls, Goblins Turnout for Monster Mash Bash

Halloween tradition continues in fine fashion with 100 teen volunteers.

For 29 years this community has celebrated Halloween with the Monster Mash Bash.  We had over 1,300 folks come together this past Saturday for more of a treat than a trick.  The fieldhouse was filled with giggles and shrieks.  It was so fun to watch the little Raggedy Anns and baby cows running from game to game.

At one point a parent stopped me to comment on one of our teen volunteers.  It seems a sixth-grader made a point of enthusiastically involving this woman’s daughter who was participating in a wheelchair.  The woman was touched and so was I.

Thank you to this volunteer, Kayla Rodriquez and to the other 100 teen volunteers just like her who made this sweet and spooky event possible.  Hundreds of little kids enjoyed themselves on a cold afternoon because of the efforts of our youth.  For 29 years, we couldn’t have a Monster Mash Bash without them.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the event’s community sponsors, the , and the Optimist Club of Oswego and the Oswego Lion’s Club as well.  Without their support, we wouldn’t be able to keep this an inexpensive holiday outing for our families.

The Oswego High School was great about accommodating us even though they were preparing for a terrific playoff win, and the Oswego308 Character Coalition was on hand with a fun game and prizes for all the kiddos.
