Memorial Bracelets Benefiting Lederman Family on Sale

Brian Beck has a second batch of memorial bracelets ready to sell for $5 each at his Montgomery store. All the money collected will go to the family of 12-year-old Eric Lederman, who died in an accident last month.

For those of you who have been looking for another way to help the family of Eric Lederman, Brian Beck has your answer.

As he did during the April 26 fundraiser at in Oswego, Beck is now selling bracelets in memory of Lederman, the in a baseball accident last month. The bracelets cost $5 each, and all of the money raised will be donated to the Lederman family, Beck said.

The bracelet was designed by Beck’s son Nicholas, a classmate of Lederman’s at . The family initially bought 500 of them, but went through all of them during the Culver’s fundraiser. Beck used some of the money they raised to buy 500 more, which were delivered on Wednesday.

You can buy bracelets from Beck at his store, the Flooring Guys of Illinois, at 700B S. Lake St. in Montgomery. You can also contact him at 630-742-5985.

The Beck family’s initial donation to the Ledermans totaled $1,439. That was only part of the money raised on April 26—Culver’s donated 10 percent of their sales for the day, and the restaurant chain’s co-founder Craig Culver donated his four-percent franchise fee as well. The restaurant also collected donations from customers, and in the end gave the family $3,762.

And nearby stores Cupcakes 2 Remember and Savvy Fashions and More also donated 10 percent of the day’s earnings, giving another roughly $200.

Beck said he would sell as many of the second batch of 500 bracelets as he could, and donate the money and any leftover bracelets to the Lederman family.

Eric Lederman, a member of the Oswego Panthers Orange travel baseball team, died on April 12 after an accident at a game in Wheaton the day before. He was struck in the neck with a baseball while warming up before the game.

You can also donate directly to the Lederman family through a memorial fund set up by the Oswego Baseball and Softball Association, in conjunction with Oswego Youth Tackle Football. Donations can be made to the fund at Allied First Bank, 3201 Orchard Road, Oswego, IL 60543. Make donations payable to “Eric Lederman Memorial Fund.”
