Oswego Tree Lighting Discussion Begins on Tuesday

See what else is happening this week in Oswego.

It's apparently time to start discussing Christmas in Oswego.

On Tuesday during the Committee of the Whole meeting, the Village trustees will take another look at the Christmas Tree Lighting for the upcoming year.

The tree the Village currently uses sits on the corner of Jackson and Main, but has not done well due to the "trauma" of being moved to that spot five years ago. Last year the Village purchased additional lights and decorations to make the tree more appealing.

However, the event is attended by only about 25-30 people, according to Village documents and staff is considering a recommendation to both move the location of the tree lighting ceremony and the date so it is stand alone to the Christmas walk.

The committee of the whole meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Village Hall.

Also this week:

  • The Senior Center is hosting their annual Fall Fashion Show on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
  • Ellis House and Equestrian Center is having Family Fun Night on Friday, with a 45-minute bat demonstration.
  • The Oswego Literary Festival is this Saturday, Oct. 5. There's a full line-up of events happening from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. down at Village Hall.
