Minor Injuries Reported in Car Vs. Train Accident

Train is stopped on tracks in downtown Oswego, South Adams bridge will be reopened only for residents.

Update, 12:01 p.m. The driver of the car Rebecca A. Scherer, 53, of the 200 block of Ashcroft Lane, was reported with minor injuries during the accident, said Oswego Police. Scherer was pulling out of a private parking lot on West Jackson when she failed to yield to a train traveling southbound on Illinois Railway tracks. She was issued a citation for failure to yield in the incident. Oswego Police contacted the National Transportation Safety Board who declined to respond to the incident. Woman Parks Running Car in the Road, Charged with DUI: Sheriff

Reports from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office; May 12 – May 20.

DUI Dominique Nicole Martin, 22, of the 800 block of Preston Lane, Oswego, was arrested at 3:09 a.m. at Stewart and Wooley Roads and charged with driving under the influence, said the Sheriff’s office. Deputies found Martin in her vehicle, which was parked and running in the roadway and found she was driving under the influence of alcohol, the sheriff's office said. She was also cited for improper parking in the roadway, not having a driver’s license on her person and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Warrant Allison M. Sautter, 20, of the 0-99 block of Saugatuck, Montgomery, was arrested at 5:35 p.m. at her residence and charged with a warrant out of Kendall County for domestic battery, said the Sheriff’s office. Slow Down, You’re Driving Too Fast on Wooley and Minkler

Both Wooley Road and Minkler Road will see decreased speed zones at certain parts of the roadway.

Have you checked your speed lately when you’re cruising down Wooley Road or Minkler Road? The Oswego Police have, and with the Village of Oswego board' vote of approval portions of those roads will see a speed decrease. Minkler Road The speed limit on Minkler road 1,000 feet north of Hunt Club Drive and 1,000 feet south of Country Drive will lower to 40 mph from 45 mph. The Juvenile Justice Council highlights the possible dangers and consequences associated with parents providing alcohol or allowing underage drinking.

The following release was issued by the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office: The Kendall County Juvenile Justice Council is aware that many families and students in Kendall County are preparing for graduation.   While graduation is an exciting time for all involved and should be celebrated, there is a potential for festivities to include alcohol. Underage drinking is the number one issue facing youth in Kendall County as was concluded from the recent youth round table discussion. The youth at the round table have indicated that in many cases parents are providing alcohol to minors or allowing alcohol to be consumed by minors on their property. Burglary Oswego police are investigating a reported burglary that occurred at 11:50 p.m. in the 5000 block of Route 71. Cash and other monetary items were reported taken. DUI Joan E. Residents Show some Appreciation for the Oswego Police Department for Police Week

As you might know, Police Week kicked off on Monday. For a little backstory, in 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice during the week. Out here in Oswego we wanted to show our Oswego Police Department that we appreciate their work and service to us. Snapshot: Sheriff's Office and Kendall County Emergency Management Agency Recognize Volunteers

The volunteers serve in multiple areas around Kendall County.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office along with the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency recently recognized its volunteers during a small reception.  Sheriff Richard A. Randall said he wanted to celebrate the hard work and dedication of all of his volunteers.  A total of 45 volunteers and their guests attended.  Volunteers are currently serving in the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Auxiliary Deputy Unit, Kendall County Emergency Management Agency, and the Jail Ministry.
