Snapshot: Lincoln Highway Mural Installed Downtown

Dedication ceremony set for Thursday.

The following information was provided by the village of Oswego. Oswego's Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition mural was install Wednesday at 67 Main St. (Floral Expression and Gifts.) The dedication ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday. Free and open to the public, please join us as we unveil this excellent addition to our Historic Downtown.  A remarkable story is told on this mural of the Boy Scouts of America simultaneously placing the Lincoln Highway concrete markers across the nation in 1928. With a well thought out plan, volunteer Scout troops installed the iconic markers from coast-to-coast all in one day. It is most appropriate to tell this story in Oswego, with their community being actively involved in Scouting for sixty years…

In response to Robin: The Boy Scout story was chosen for the mural subject through a collaborative effort of representatives from Oswego, the Lincoln Highway Coalition and the artist.
