The Oswegoland Park District will welcome Gin Blossoms as the headlining act for this year’s PrairieFest set for Father’s Day weekend June 14-17. Formed in the late 1980s in Tempe, Ariz., the band is best known for hits like Hey Jealousy, Allison Road and Found Out About You. They will take the Main Stage at PrairieFest Park from 8:30 to 10 Saturday, June 16. The band most recently released an album in October 2010 titled NO CHOCOLATE CAKE. Other Main Stage entertainment includes Wedding Banned set for 8 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Back Country Roads at 7 p.m. Friday with 7th Heavan taking the stage at 9:30 p.m. that day. Ever wonder how bands like Blue Oyster Cult and Sister Hazel end up headlining at Oswego’s PrairieFest? Ideas for the next year’s musical entertainment start getting thrown around by festival coordinators within a week after the current year’s event ends. “Staff around here starts coming up with dream bands who we would most like to hear,” said Kristie Blocker Vest, special events coordinator for the Oswegoland Park District. “After a couple of weeks of brainstorming some great music, we put together a list and start tracking down bands who might be able to come out.
