District 308 Announces New Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee

Committee is made up of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

The District 308 Board of Education recently approved 23 members to the newly-created Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee, the second of four proposed committees. Earlier this year the Board approved the Finance Advisory Committee.  Superintendent Matthew Wendt said the Board of Education reviewed over 90 applicants for the teaching and learning advisory committee. Board member and co-chair of the committee Alison Swanson said when choosing members for the committee they “tried to get people from every type of area.” Examples she used included parents of special education, gifted and regular students, residents with backgrounds in higher education and those without, those that have taken online classes and those with dual-language …

Oswego District 308 Seeking Advisory Committee Members

Four different advisory committees will be created with members from the community, school and parents.

Editor's Note: The following is taken from a release provided by Oswego District 308. The District 308 Board of Education is establishing four new advisory committees to help it determine the future direction of the school district. Approximately 25 members will be selected to join each committee, consisting of a combination of residents, parents and employees of School District 308. These individuals will be responsible for evaluating current operations and developing recommendations for future improvements. Oswego Superintendent Proposes Advisory Committees for District 308

The four committees would each be made up of 20-25 residents.

Wendt has proposed the idea to create advisory committees of district residents to prepare a series of five-year plans on a variety of areas. Want free local news in your inbox every morning? Kristen what Paul means and what my experience shows is that these so called committees often start with the administrations desired outcome already in hand. The discussions flow freely but are steered toward that desired outcome. I was on the last committee that determined how many buildings we would need.
