Art will be featured in bank lobby through Feb. 22.
Allied First Bank is currently hosting the 2013 Oswego Junior High Art Show. The art show features pieces from district 308 Junior High students. The art will be on display in the bank’s lobby through February 22. There will be a reception for all of the artists, families, and spectators on Friday, February 22nd at 6:00 p.m. The reception will be emceed by Oswego Police Chief Dwight Baird and awards will be given for first through third place in both the two dimensional neutral and two dimensional color categories. There will also be a Best in Show and People’s Choice awards presented.

Art will be displayed at Downers Grove North from Feb. 10 - 16.
Editor's Note: The article has been updated to reflect the additons of three more artists. The visual art department programs at Oswego 308 schools have been on fire recently. At the Regional Competition hosted on Jan. 26 at Downers Grove North High School many Oswego High School students walked away with the honor of a golden key, silver key or honorable mention. Golden Key award winners will be going on to Nationals to compete for Gold, Silver, and Silver with distinction medals. If students place, they will be awarded at Carnegie Hall in New York City in May. All of the artwork will be open to the public at Downers Grove North High School from Feb. 10 to Feb. 16. Students won awards in the categories of mixed media, color and black and white.
Oswego Community School District 308 elementary students were recognized at Allied First Bank of Oswego’s Art Show. About 100 elementary grade level students were chosen by their art teachers to be a part of the first elementary show at the bank. The following schools participated in the show: East View Kindergarten Center, Old Post, Lakewood Creek, Wolf’s Crossing, Homestead, The Wheatland’s, Boulder Hill, and Fox River Academy of Music & Art. The awards ceremony took place on November 16 at 6:00 p.m. Awards were presented by the Mayor of Oswego, Brian LeClercq, and well attended by the community.
