Photos: PrairieFest Day Four

A look at the sights of the final day of the Oswegoland Park District's summer festival.

The curtain has fallen on another PrairieFest. But Sunday’s finale had plenty of fun for everyone who braved the heat. The centerpiece of the day, of course, was the PrairieFest Parade, and hundreds upon hundreds of people lined the downtown streets to watch the floats, bands and politicians pass by. And it didn’t disappoint – kids and their parents were delighted with the hour-long procession. But the newest attraction on the last day of PrairieFest was the inaugural bed races. Three teams signed up to race specially-designed beds down Theodore Drive, competing for charity. The Oswegoland Park District’s own team, The Queen and Her Court, won the race, but according to organizer Brian Everhart of the park district, the $750 purse will be …

Your PrairieFest Schedule for Sunday

Here's a look at what's in store for the final day of this year's PrairieFest.

All good things, as they say, must come to an end. And that’s the way it is with PrairieFest, which ends its annual run today. But the Oswegoland Park District still has plenty of fun in store for you. The big events of the day are the 5K and one-mile Prairie Dog Jog at 8:30 a.m., the parade at 1 p.m., and the all-new bed races down Theodore Drive at 3:30 p.m. There will be three divisions in the bed race, and the winning team in each one will get money donated to their favorite charity. There will also be a place to Make Your Case – essentially, to donate money to those charities, each of which will have an open pillowcase ready to collect your cash. And don’t forget the car show, the Rotary Club duck race, and a performance by Hix Bros. …
