Deck the House Contest: This House Could Win $100,000 for Plainfield Schools

This Plainfield house is one of the 25 finalists in Patch’s Deck the House contest. Vote now to help this entry win $100,000 for Plainfield schools.

Could this be the best “decked” house in the country? Possibly. Congratulations to Ed and Colleen Vrba of Plainfield, who are among the 25 finalists in our Deck the House contest. We had tons of national entries this year and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santas to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors. We loved seeing everyone’s holiday spirit, but Deck the House isn’t over yet. We’re still looking for the one home so spectacularly decorated that it could be the national grand prize winner of our contest—and it could be the Vrba home right here in Plainfield. For the Vrba family, decking the house is a family Christmas tradition. "…

Enter Patch's Deck the House Contest and Vote for Oswego Entries

Oswego has three entries; check them out and upload your own!

There's nothing more beautiful than a house decked out for the holidays, with lights aglow and wreaths on the door.  Patch wants to share those beautiful houses in our annual "Deack the House" contest with the grand prize winner taking home $100,000 for their school district. If you think your house is the one that deserves the grand prize, enter the contest here and let us all ooh and ahh over your beautiful decorations. 24 semi-finalists will also get $500 towards their electric bill (as we know all those decorations can be pricey). The house with the  most votes is declared the best of them all, so you want to be sure you're supporting our local entries. Oswego has three beautiful entries so far. They need your votes to help them …

Oswego: Show Us Your Lights

Share photos and videos of your holiday display on Patch.

By now, you should know about Patch’s “Deck the House” contest, which launched this month and gives dedicated decorators the chance to win $100,000 for their local school district by entering photos or videos of their holiday light displays. (You can check out Oswego entries and cast your vote by clicking here.) But we can’t all be Clark Griswold. Maybe your holiday display is a little more low key — or maybe you’re just not the contest-entering type. That’s no reason to hide your light. We think your holiday display deserves to be shared. So we’re asking Oswego holiday decorators to upload their photos and videos (just click the button that says “upload photos and videos”) here on Patch. While you’re at it, be sure to include your address…

Help An Illinois School District Win $100,000

Your vote could help make a world of difference for students in Bolingbrook's Valley View School District.

It was Benjamin Franklin who once said, "If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately." I know you're not from Bolingbrook, but Bolingbrook sure needs your help.  The Frohns, longtime residents of Bolingbrook, are among 24 national finalists for Patch's Deck the House contest.  What's at stake? A lot, actually. If the Frohns receive the most votes by Sunday, Jan. 8, the Valley View School District will get $100,000 for local students. Now we know your kids don't attend any of Valley View's schools. But the Frohns are the only Illinois candidate. And during these cash-strapped times we live in, anyone can realize the enormous effect $100,000 can have on a child's education. Please take a moment to vote for the Frohns and help…
