Look Up Crime Stats in Oswego

Patch has created a searchable database of the FBI's recently released 2011 stats on violent crimes and property crimes.

The FBI recently released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report, which compiles information from local law enforcement about violent crimes and property crimes in their communities. Use the pull-down menu to find your city or town. Violent crimes and property crimes are listed as totals, and are then broken down into several categories. Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault are all categories of violent crimes. Burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson are all categories of property crimes. In Oswego, for instance the data shows three arson reports in 2011. Two Men Charged in TCF Bank Robbery

Two men have been charged for a bank robbery that took place in Oswego in December 2010. According to Oswego police, federal indictments were issued Feb. 15 for Joseph Prince, 23, of Aurora, and Mason Johnson, 34, of Chicago. They are both in custody for the robbery that occurred Dec. 20, 2010 at the TCF Bank inside the Jewel at 2540 Route 30. Police said the two men robbed the bank after one of them implied he had a weapon. No weapon was ever seen, and no one was injured during the robbery. The men took an undisclosed amount of cash and ran from the store, heading north, police said. They left the scene in a dark gray four-door car with a sunroof, according to reports.
