Local Woman Arrested for Forgery at an Oswego Bank

Taffie C. Thompson presented three stolen checks to a bank.

Editor’s Note: The following is from a press release issued by the Oswego Police Department:  Oswego Police have concluded the investigation of a report taken in July 2012 where a female suspect had presented three stolen checks in June 2012 to a bank in the 3200 block of Orchard Road and received $1,443.69. Taffie C. Thompson, 37, of the 400 block of Watson Street in Aurora, was charged with Forgery, a class-3 felony. A warrant was issued for her arrest with bail being $10,000 and ten percent required to e posted. Thompson is currently being held in the Kane County Jail on unrelated charges.

Drugs Kwame Caldwell, 18, of the 100 block of Preakness Drive in Oswego, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 12:40 a.m. on Longbeach Road at Sonora Drive in Boulder Hill, Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. Caldwell was initially stopped for not having a rear registration light, police said. Paraphernalia Brian McWilough Jr., 25, of the 4100 block of Chesapeake Drive in Aurora, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop at 11:30 p.m. on Route 30 at Wolf Road, Oswego police said. Man Charged in Oswego Forgery

Mark Jackson of Aurora was charged with forgery after allegedly obtaining and attempting to cash someone else's check in Oswego. He is currently behind bars facing DUI charges as well.

An Aurora man has been charged with forgery after allegedly intercepting and trying to cash someone else’s check in Oswego, police said. Mark Jackson, 35, of the 800 block of Douglas Road in Aurora, is accused of obtaining a check mailed by someone unknown to him, Oswego police said, and then altering and attempting to cash that check at an Oswego currency exchange on Douglas Road in February. The victim was alerted to the attempt and contacted police, who launched an investigation. Jackson was charged with forgery, a Class 3 felony. But no warrant for his arrest was issued, since he’s already behind bars at the Kendall County Jail, police said. Two adults and a juvenile were charged with retail theft after an incident around 7 p.m. at Kohl's Department Store, 2500 Route 34. Oswego police said more than $150 worth of merchandise was taken by Trejamario Cook, 18, 32 Hampton Road, Montgomery; Alonte Smith, 18, 8 Birchwood Court, Montgomery; and a juvenile. Christian Theinkeu, 37, of 145 Linden Drive, was charged with domestic battery around 9:30 a.m., according to Oswego police. Police said he was taken into custody and taken to Kane County Jail. An Oswego man reported about $65 worth of items were taken without permission from a birthday party at about 5:15 p.m. at 2870 Route 34, Oswego officers said.
