Gas prices were predicted to be lower this summer compared to the past three years, but that won't translate into savings at the pump this Memorial Day weekend, experts said. "Motorists this year are facing rising gas prices heading into the Memorial Day holiday," said Michael Green, a AAA spokesman, adding that Memorial Day 2013 would probably be the most expensive since 2011. In past years, prices have declined heading into early summer as oil refineries produced more gasoline to meet expected summer driving demand. This year, though, Midwest refineries haven't been able to…

As is always the case big government with their cronies completely control the fossil fuel industry from drilling to refining to selling. All the alphabet agencies at BO's insistence is essentially causing massive increases in the cost of fuel to drive people to electric cars which wouldn't exist except for massive subsidies of our tax dollars while with the new smart meters and closure of coal …   more ›

Gasoline Prices Rise 13 Percent Over Last 32 Days

CNN Money reports the average price for a gallon of gasoline in America is $3.73. Oswego gasoline prices are even higher.

Most motorists have noticed that the price of gasoline has done nothing but rise over the past month. CNN Money reports the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in America has increased more than 13 percent over the past 32 days to $3.73. On Tuesday morning, gas prices in Oswego ranged from $3.89 at the Phillips 66 station at Light Road and Route 31, to $3.99 at the Shell at Route 25 and Chicago Road, according to GasBuddy.com. CNN Money is crediting the price increase to a combination of factors including rising crude oil prices, production cuts and refinery closings.

Tropical Storm Isaac Expected to Cause Steep Increase in Oswego Gas Prices

AAA officials have said that Tropical Storm Isaac -- soon expected to become Hurricane Isaac -- may cause gas prices in Illinois to surge.

Gas prices nationwide could increase by 10 cents or more by this time next week. Officials from AAA have said that Tropical Storm Issac, which is currently ripping across the Gulf of Mexico, will shut down offshore oil rigs. The National Hurricane Center has predicted that the tropical storm will become a hurricane on Tuesday with 74 to 95 mph winds. It is expected to hit from an area southwest of New Orleans to the edge of Florida's panhandle. According to gasbuddy.com, the cheapest unleaded gas available in Oswego as of Monday afternoon was $3.98 per gallon, seen at numerous local fueling stations, which means gas prices could be well over the $4 mark by Labor Day. Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of unleaded was $3.75 on …

And in seven day (7/26-8/3/2012) gas has jumped $0.40 per gallon. There is …   more ›

Officials with AAA report that gas prices will remain steady through August with a slight increase possible.

Record corn prices and refinery problems in Indiana and Illinois caused gas prices to spike at the end of July in the Chicago area and around the Midwest. The major price increase was the first since March and the largest July increase experienced since about 2000, according to AAA. The national average gas price increased 5.1 percent or 17 cents a gallon during the month of July.  Overall, prices were generally down during the month of July in the Chicago area, with gas prices averaging about $3.60 in the Chicago area, according to AAA Chicago. Prices increased significantly at the end of the month due to refinery problems "Illinois, Indiana and states in the Midwest have seen prices rise since last week due to production issues at the BP…

I was stunned at this latest price increase. Within 1 day gas had been $3.48 at Meijer and Walmart....and I saw it same day at $3.99 at BP, then $4.19 next morning (BP is ALWAYS priced higher than everyone else, also they shoot their prices up first which is an omen to me that prices are going to soar, for whatever reason, so I hurry up and fill up at Meijer when I see this!)   more ›
