Village Working to Keep Roads Clear

Cul-de-sac plowing program to begin late Thursday afternoon.

The village of Oswego Public Works Department plows are out in full force as the snow continues to pile up Thursday afternoon. Jerry Weaver, director of  public works, said crews have been out since about 10 a.m. working to keep the roads clear. He said there are no real trouble spots in town as of 2 p.m., but that strong winds overnight could change that. “Right now our biggest concern is what happens after midnight,” he said. The affected subdivisions would be Fox Chase, River Run, Park Place, Gates Creek, Gates Creek West, Blackberry Knolls, Southbury, Lakeview, Lakeview West, Deerpath, Morgan Crossing, Arbor Gate, Ashcroft, Old Reserve and parts of …

I certainly do hope some kind of solution comes out of this, outsourcing or no. Living on a cul-de-sac, not only does it not get plowed, but when it does the snow is normally all piled up at the end of my driveway because I live on the longest "flat" stretch on the court. It's not much fun having to dig your driveway out twice, and the second time out of hard-packed several feet high piles of …   more ›
