Search Engines Raise Warning Flags Over County Website

Google, Bing both reveal messages accessing website "may harm your computer."

If you've tried to access the Kendall County website today you may have seen multiple warning messages urging you to navigate away from the site. When logging onto one of the county Web pages warnings appear that entering the site may harm your computer. The county IT Department is working on the issue, but has not provided information as to whether the site was hacked or if there are other errors causing the warning. Patch will update as soon as more information becomes available. Update 1:20 p.m. - It appears the situation has been resolved, the website warnings no longer appear on the search engines. Snow, Freezing Rain Forecast for Tonight

Storm could cause issues with morning commute.

Watch those roads in the morning. The National Weather Service said a winter storm is expected to bring a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow to the area late tonight and into the morning. By late morning all precipitation north of I-88 should be snow, the NWS said. The storm could bring up to three inches of snow to the area. UPDATE: The NWS has amended its forecast to lessen the prediction of snow accumulation. At 6:15 p.m. the service said the morning commute may be hazardous due to precipitation, but heavier snowfall would be closer to the Wisconsin border. Drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute. Patch will update this story as the forecast warrants.

NWS: Freezing Rain Advisory with Ice Accumulations in Effect for Kendall County on Sunday

Up to a quarter-of-an-inch of ice could accumulate, the weather service said.

Update, Sunday 2:51 p.m. Freezing rain advisory has been updated to 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening for Kendall County, according to the National Weather Service. Update, Saturday 5:35 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory that will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Due to the fact that the soil will be frozen, significant ice accumlations are possible, warns the NWS. Dangerously Cold Temperatures Expected Today

Wind chills expected to be well below zero today.

It will be a cold and windy Martin Luther King Jr,. Holiday today across the Chicagoland region. The National Weather Service issued a a wind chill advisory from 6 p.m. tonight through 9 a.m. Tuesday. Wind chill temperatures could drop as low as -25 degrees, according to the weather service report. Today's forecast calls for scattered flurries before 10 a.m. and highs around 12 degrees. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph. Cold temperatures will continue through Tuesday with a high of 5 to 12 degrees and wind chills of up to -15 below, according to the report.

Kendall County Foreclosures Increased in 2012 to 1,507

Foreclosures not as high as 2010 numbers, when 1,827 were filed.

Foreclosures in Kendall County rose by 135 in 2012, according to a report by Kendall County’s Circuit Clerk Becky Morganegg. Morganegg told the Kendall County Board foreclosuers were up over 2011 numbers, but lower than 2010, the Aurora Beacon News reported. There were 1,507 foreclosures filed in 2012, up from 1,372 in 2011. In 2010 there were 1,827 filed, according to the Beacon.  In addition to rising foreclosure filings, eminent domain filings numbered 41 in 2012, up from 34 in 2011.Morganegg said that increase can largely be attributed to land purchases for the Route 47 widening project. There were only five eminent domain filings in 2010, according to the article.

Jury Trials Rose in 2012, Kendall County State's Attorney Says

State's Attorney Eric Weis broke down the numbers of cases handled last year during a presentation before the Kendall County Board.

Although the overall number of court cases fell in 2012, Kendall County prosecutors handled three times as many jury trials, according to a report in the Aurora Beacon News. State's Attorney Eric Weis presented a report to the Kendall County Board this week showing there were 14,402 cases filed in 2012, down from the 14,651 filed in 2011. Out of those, 414 were felonies, down from 429 in 2011, according to the Beacon. During 2012, the state’s attorney’s office tried 41 trials before a jury, up significantly from the 14 jury trials in 2011. The office also tried more than 100 cases before a judge, the Beacon reported. Weis reported the primary difference in the numbers was a reduction in traffic cases. Sheriff Identifies Man Who Committed Suicide in Courthouse Parking Lot

Police identify 52-year-old John Marcus Lundberg of Yorkville as the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office identified the man who publicly committed suicide at the Kendall County Courthouse last week as 52-year-old John Marcus Lundberg of Yorkville. A motive for the public display though has yet to be determined, said Deputy Craig French, spokesman for the Sheriff's office. "That's something that we're still looking into," he said Monday afternoon. Video surveillance from the Kendall County Courthouse showed Lundberg putting a shotgun to his head and firing a single shot Friday afternoon at approximately 1:46 p.m. Lundberg, who was by himself at the time, parked his car on the far west side of the parking lot, according to police. NWS: Winter Weather Advisory For Kendall County

Freezing rain, sleet and snow forecast for Saturday night, into Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Kendall County. According to the NWS freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected to begin at 9 p.m. and continue through 9 a.m. Sunday. The NWS predicts up to a tenth of an inch of ice by midnight, which is likely to make travel tricky. On top of the ice is a possible inch of snow, the NWS said. Road visibility is expected to be limited during this time.
