The Aurora University Spartans held a fundraiser for Kyle Moser, an injured Oswego Marine.
Oswegoan Natalie Zander, center, flipped a Wounded Warrior commemorative coin at midfield to open the Aurora University-Alma College football game at Vago Field in Aurora Sept. 15. Flanking her were Mark Walsh of Oswego, left, AU head football coach; and referee Ralph Carey. The AU football Spartans held a fundraiser at the game for Natalie's brother, Kyle, a 20-year-old Oswego soldier who lost both legs while serving with U.S. forces in Afghanistan. The fundraiser was sponsored by AU veterans and Military Service Association. AU won the game 24-21. Special thanks to Al Benson for the release and photo.

Event will take place on Friday, Sept. 21 at the Timber Creek Convention Center.
Ann Gutierrez and her son Nick have never actually met USMC Lance Corporal Kyle Moser, who was seriously injured in November while serving in Afghanistan. But they want to help. Calling it ‘A Night of Stars and Stripes’ Gutierrez has organized a benefit concert that will feature tribute artists for acts that include Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson andRitchie Valens. The Change of Habit Tribute Band will also be performing. Gutierrez’s son, who went to Oswego High School with Moser, himself does a tribute of a young Elvis and Ritchie Valens. Special guests will also include Keenan Cahill and Commodore Tom. Gutierrez described Cahill as “huge superstar on YouTube with the teenagers,” and he’s worked in …

Gary Awalt of North Aurora is hoping to raise the $11,800 he needs to buy an Action Trackchair for Oswego Marine Kyle Moser, who lost both legs in Afghanistan last year.
Before the attack in Afghanistan last year that cost him both his legs and part of his right hand, Oswego Marine Kyle Moser enjoyed being in the great outdoors. And if North Aurora resident Gary Awalt is successful, Moser will be back hunting, fishing and hiking before too long. Awalt, a special needs bus driver for School District 308, is friends with Moser and his family. And he thinks he’s found just the thing to get the 20-year-old Moser back into the outdoor life. It’s called an Action Trackchair, and it’s billed as “the ultimate in off-road wheelchairs,” according to the company website. It’s able to cover virtually any terrain, thanks to an innovative design and seven-and-a-half-foot tank treads on either side. It was designed by …

Batavia company organized event to support Kyle Moser and his family.
Hundreds turned out at Parkside Lanes in Aurora Sunday afternoon to support a fundraiser for injured U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Kyle Moser. The event, which consisted of a raffle, auction and plenty of bowling and pizza, was sponsored by Valley Fire Protection Services of Batavia with all proceeds going to Moser’s family. Moser, who is a graduate of Oswego High School, was injured in a November explosion in Afghanistan and lost both legs and part of a hand. The fundraiser in total raised about $25,000. Diane Lukowski, an extended-aunt of Moser’s, was “blown away” by the event. “People are so generous,” she said. “I think people are not all that interested in the actual bowling, but being able to come and support Kyle.” Kyle's mom, Patricia …

Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Roy Orbison might have passed into another world, but they will be alive and well at a benefit concert for Oswego High School graduate Marine Kyle Moser in May. Billed as a Night of Stars and Stripes, the benefit is being organized by Oswego residents Angela Stirn and Ann Gutierrez and will feature tribute acts of Presley, Jackson, Orbison, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Richie Valens, Tom Jones and Tim McGraw. The Change of Heart Tribune Band is also scheduled to perform. Stirn said the idea for the show, which is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the Timber Creek Convention Center, came about because she and Gutierrez love tribute acts. In fact, Gutierrez’s 17-year-old son is an Elvis tribute artist himself…

The trip is being coordinated by Hope for the Warriors, a group that works “to enhance quality of life for U.S. service members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty.” Moser came to be the guest of McMahon when the two met via Skype at a birthday party for Moser in…
