Save Money and Go Green for Prom With Reused Dresses
Would you buy a reused prom dress?
Save money and reuse by purchasing a prom dress from a resale shop or thrift store.
Looking for a way to go green (and not the green that involves cash) and get ready for prom? The answer is pretty simple. A big part of the Go Green movement is reusing items so they don’t go to waste. And what better to reuse than a prom dress? “Most of these dresses are only worn once for just a couple of hours,” said co-owner of Savvy Fashions and More Dawn Aagesen. “We want to be able to recycle some of these prom dresses and accessories.” Aagesen says dresses at the resale shop go as low as $40 and up to about $250 depending on the original price as well as make and condition. “Girls are easily dropping a thousand dollars now between the dress and the shoes and hair and make up,” said Nancy Tyl, co-owner. “Our options are much more …

Two business owners explain how their small business competes with the big-box stores.
The craziness of Black Friday is behind and now Small Business Saturday has its turn this weekend, minus some of the craziness. Shopping local helps smaller businesses to thrive and it’s a way to show your support for your community, said Tia Brooks from the Village of Oswego. In Oswego, many of the downtown shops are participating in Small Business Saturday with their program “Downtown Dollars.” Five winners for $100 in Downtown Dollars will be drawn – the prize can be used just like cash at any of the participating stores. Consignment shop offers a wide selection.
Savvy Fashions and More in Mason Square is a consignment boutique, but to understand all that this store offers you need to walk through its doors and let the owners take you on a tour.
