District 308 Piloting Wi-Fi on Bus Program

Wi-Fi will be equipped to four buses starting in April.

Several Oswego 308 buses are getting a tech upgrade as they undergo a pilot program to install Wi-Fi on board. The program, called mobile classrooms, will provide Wi-Fi services to four, 71-passenger school buses that will allow students to use their personal wireless-capable devices. Students would then be able to access the internet while on the bus to and from school or after school activities or while on field trips. Derrick Berlin, the Oswego Transportaton Director, said filters will be used to prevent students from streaming or accessing sites prohibited by the district’s Computer Network Guidelines. None Reported Injured in Oswego School Bus Accident

Incident happened Monday morning with 27 children on board the bus.

No one was reported injured in an accident involving an Oswego 308 school bus on Monday morning, said Oswego police. The bus, driven by Kelly Salisbury, 55, of the 300 block of Garden Circle, Yorkville, made a left turn at the intersection of Bayberry Drive and Bentson Street and struck a vehicle driven by Barry Adamson, 61, of the 400 block of Bayberry Drive, Oswego at about 8:20 a.m., according to Oswego police reports. No one, including the 27 children on board the bus at the time, were reported injured, said Oswego police. Over $1,500 was reported in damagees.

I would like to post a positive comment, for what it's worth, about the bus company. My son left his cell phone on the bus yesterday after school...I figured I'd call the bus barn and see if I could ask someone to see if it was there. I never had to call.
