Two Charged in Theft of Baseball Equipment from OHS

A pair of 16-year-old boys were charged with burglary for allegedly stealing baseballs and bats from a storage locker at Oswego High School earlier this month.

Two 16-year-old boys have been charged burglary in connection with the theft of baseball equipment from a storage shed at Oswego High School earlier this month. On July 5, a local baseball team storing property in those sheds reported the theft of 28 new baseball bats, several used bats, and numerous baseballs, Oswego police said. In total, the equipment was valued at $3,000, police said. Oswego police were subsequently told about a post online offering the stolen equipment for sale. On July 6, police intercepted a transaction in the parking lot of a local business and recovered 14 new Louisville Slugger bats. They charged the seller with possession of stolen property at that time, and found more of the stolen equipment at his house, …

Shattered glass Someone broke a window on a home in the 100 block of Concord Drive sometime before 6:02 a.m., Oswego police said. The damage was estimated at about $500, police said. Burglary Part One Someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 0-99 block of Beau Meade Road sometime before 8:35 a.m. and stole a GPS unit, a cell phone and a camera, Oswego police said. Burglary Part Two Someone stole a GPS unit and a phone charger from a home in the 400 block of Carlton Court sometime before 2:38 p.m., Oswego police said. The items have an estimated total value of $125, police said. Police Blotter: Drinking, Stealing and Trespassing

A look at recent police reports provided by the Oswego Police Department.

Drunken driving Robert Molitor, 37, of the 600 block of Belmont Avenue in Oswego, was charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop at 12:15 a.m. on Route 34 at Route 30, Oswego police said. Molitor was also charged with speeding, police said. Accident with injury Bethany LaRossa, 30, of the 200 block of Monroe Street in Oswego, was injured in a two-car crash at 4:30 p.m. on Orchard Road at Route 34, Oswego police said. LaRossa was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, and no further information was available. Monday morning, I left for work and noticed individuals walking door to door through my neighborhood. While they may have been attaching paper advertisements to the doors, given the thefts from homes it looked somewhat suspicious. Is there an ordinance against this type of activity in Oswego? Oswego Woman Charged With Stealing Thousands from Montgomery Man

Barbara Chambers is accused of fraudulently obtaining power of attorney over a Montgomery man, and using that to steal more than $10,000 from him.

An Oswego woman was indicted last week on charges of stealing money from and exploiting a Montgomery man. Barbara Chambers, 62, of the 3800 block of Wolf’s Crossing, is charged with fraudulently obtaining power of attorney over a Montgomery resident over the age of 60, and using that to obtain more than $10,000 of his money, according to Oswego police and Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis. The theft allegedly happened between Nov. 15, 2008 and June 30, 2009, according to court records. The man had a bank account in Oswego, and discovered questionable transactions totalling more than $10,000, police said. Drunken driving Andrew Vega, 21, of the 1300 block of Webster Street in Naperville, was charged with drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without insurance after an incident at 5:10 a.m. on Route 34 at Route 31, Oswego police said. Possession Two teenagers – one 16, one 17 – were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 8 p.m. on Morgan Valley Drive at Prairieview Drive, Oswego police said. Thieves Make Off With Rims, Tires from Westphal Chevy

Thousands of dollars of car parts stolen.

Oswego police reported that someone stole the rims and tires from 2 2012 Chevrolet Tahoes at Ron Westphal Chevrolet sometime over the weekend of May 19. The thefts were reported to police Monday morning. The value of the rims and tires was place at about $7,000, police said. The theft is still under investigation, according to police. This story has been updated to more accurately reflect the amount of vehicles.

An employee of Kohl's, 2500 Route 34, reported someone stole medication from her purse while she was working Dec. 12, according to Oswego police reports. The incident was reported to police at about 9 a.m. Dec. 14, and they are continuing to investigate the matter. An Oswego woman reported she has been the victim of harassing phone calls and text messages while working at a business in the 2400 block of Route 34, according to police reports. She reported the harassment to Oswego police at about 10 a.m. Dec. 13.
